Check Your BMI (Body Mass Index)

Your BMI is a measure that uses your height and weight to work out if your weight is healthy.

For most adults, an ideal BMI is in the 18.5 to 24.9 range.

If your BMI is:

  • below 18.5 – you’re in the underweight range
  • between 18.5 and 24.9 – you’re in the healthy weight range
  • between 25 and 29.9 – you’re in the overweight range

How to Work Out Your BMI

  1. Square your height in metres, e.g. 1.70m x 1.70m = 2.89
  2. Divide your weight in kilograms by that calculated number, e.g. 70kg ÷ 2.89 = 24.22

    In the above example, you would fit into the healthy weight range.
